On February
20th, Southeast Polk Community School district educators will participate in a
day involving themes of cultural competency and digital citizenship. The
purpose of this district wide professional development day is to provide
educators with the opportunity to build understandings and awareness of social,
emotional, and cultural diversity to form stronger and more positive
relationships with all students, specifically around cultural competence and
digital citizenship. Educators will take learnings from the day to grow
the ability to connect with students in their school, classroom and community.
The ability for educators to grow their skill in teaching students from
different backgrounds is critical to the success of the educational system.
All certified
staff will attend a morning and afternoon keynote. Each staff member is
asked to pick 4 sessions to attend (one during each breakout session).
For a list of breakout sessions and descriptions, please visit the website detailing the day.
On Monday,
February 16th at 4pm, registration will open for each session. Please
preview the session grid and identify 1 or 2 options for each session time to
attend. Sessions may fill quickly so we have worked hard to offer
sessions multiple times on a variety of topics. Specifics on registering
for sessions may be accessed anytime after 4:00 PM on Monday, February 16th.
You may visit the registration page for specifics on
registering for each session. All registration will be completed through
the Heartland AEA PD system.
We look forward
to a great day of learning and growing on February 20th!
