Resources for Teaching in Different Pathways

As teacher teams continue to work hard to provide, adjust, and refine learning pathways for students, we recognize that educators all over the country are facing some of the same challenges.  Sean Junkins is a middle school instructional coach, and shares many of his resources on Twitter. (@sjunkins).  He has created some tools for teaching during the pandemic, and today's blog will share some of these.

Learning at Home: Assignment Checklist

Alternating days of 'learning at school' and 'learning at home' is a new concept for students, teachers, and families.  Below is a template for helping students keep track of the work they are to be doing during their 'learning at home' day.

If you think this template might be of help to you, your students, and your families, you may access the template here.  You may make a copy and modify this as it meets your needs.

Learning Pathways: Infographics

Mr. Junkins has made a number of infographics with key ideas for supporting the different pathways of learning.  We are often inundated with information, so he has summarized key areas in a visual way.  Below are some of the designs:

So far, he has created around 20 infographics and continues to create them and post on his Twitter feed. We have compiled these into a folder that may be found here

GOOD NEWS!

If you would like some of these infographics to post in your classroom or to have as a planning resource, we are taking orders for these through Print Shop.  These infographics will be printed in color on 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock.  To order, please complete the form below.  The first order will be submitted on September 25th.  Costs will be covered through curriculum.

On Demand Professional Development: Building Teacher-Student Relationships in an Online Setting

Because of the unique roles of educators this school year, we are taking a different approach to professional learning. We understand that more than ever, collaborative teams have a need to work together, particularly during late start and early release times.   Because of this, we will be reducing the amount of district scheduled professional development on Wednesdays.  At the same time, we recognize the need for professional learning during these challenging times.  We are working as a teaching and learning team to put together 'on demand' professional development modules for teams to engage in as it meets your needs.

This week, we are showcasing the module "Building Teacher-Student Relationships in an Online Setting".  Students are in a variety of pathways this school year, and many teachers are building new relationships rather than continuing relationships which was the case last spring.

This module has a short presentation, and then ideas for teams to consider when building relationships online, as well as a planning template.

This and other On Demand PD modules may be found on the Southeast Polk Professional Development Site. We will continue to showcase these modules in the blog so teams can make decisions about their professional learning needs. Below are the modules that are currently ready.  Be sure to let us know additional learning needs so we can add them as a resource.
