Summer Work
When the students leave, the work that teacher teams engage in is incredible! Many subject areas will be working on curriculum development and revision this summer. Below is a learning map that outlines the work that will be done.
In addition, several schools will be hosting summer school, and there will be multiple learning opportunities including the PLC Institute, ISTE Conference, Special Education Symposium, Iowa Reading Conference, Inquiry Design Model Conference, Environmental Science Camp, and Camp Invention, just to name a few! As you learn, work, and relax this summer, be sure to add the #whatteachersdointhesummer hashtag to any #sepolk tweets you might post.
Fall Professional Learning
The dates have not yet been established, but there will be a district professional development offering in the fall to support ideas from the book "The New Art and Science of Teaching" by Robert Marzano. This course will be a hybrid of face to face meetings and online work. It will include access and alignment to the Marzano Instructional Compendium. All teachers who take the class will receive a copy of the book and it will be offered for 1 credit. On another note, the course "Disrupting Thinking" will be offered again next spring. More details on both of these opportunities will be shared later.
Again...a sincere thank you for all you do!
